VenuePreview vs Prismm for wedding planning

Prismm, formerly AllSeated and now part of Cvent, is a professional event design platform: floor plans in 2D and 3D, seating charts, guest lists and collaboration, sold to venues, planners and vendors. Because it sells to wedding venues and planners, your venue or planner may already use it. VenuePreview is a couple's tool for an earlier question: what will the venue look like decorated? You upload photos of your empty or undecorated venue, choose a style and colors, and get visualizations of it decorated. Use VenuePreview to settle on the look, and Prismm, or your planner's copy of it, to lay out the room.

VenuePreview vs Prismm: how they differ

A decorated look or a working layout

Prismm is built for laying out an event: you design in 2D, 3D or both with precision floor plans and templates, arrange seating and manage guest lists, with real-time collaboration in the cloud. VenuePreview answers the earlier question of style: how your venue looks decorated in the colors and theme you are weighing.

Where the picture comes from

Prismm works from a model of the space. It recommends 3D scanning the venue early, or entering its name, address, dimensions and perimeter walls, and its 3D views show that modeled space. VenuePreview starts from photos of your own venue, empty or undecorated, so the visualizations show the room you toured.

Seating and guest lists

Prismm handles the parts of planning that come after the look is chosen: floor plans, seating charts and guest lists shared between the people running the day. Its wedding page says planners can collaborate with couples (and their in-laws) in it. If you need a seating chart, Prismm is the tool for that job.

Cost and who pays

Prismm, sold as Cvent Event Diagramming, has a free plan for 1 user and 3 events, then Standard at $480 a year, Pro at $150 a month and higher tiers, as of October 2026. Photo-realistic 3D is listed only on the custom Enterprise plan. VenuePreview is a one-time purchase for a single venue upload, starting at $19 one-time for 40 venue visualizations.

Detail of the decor

Prismm's floor planning page mentions adjusting linen colors, and its homepage mentions table settings and 10,000 furniture and design objects; florals, centerpieces and draping are not mentioned. VenuePreview visualizations show the decorated space, for example table settings, lighting and floral arrangements.

It lets venues, planners and vendors design events in 2D, 3D or both, with floor plan templates, seating charts, guest lists, table settings and a library of 10,000 furniture and design objects, and it recommends 3D scanning a venue early. Its pricing page is not consistent about the free plan, which its FAQ says can use Pro features for 1 event. Prismm says more than 3,000,000 events have been run on it.
