Canva alternatives for planning your wedding decor

Canva gives couples wedding mood board templates and AI photo tools such as Magic Edit, on a Free plan or Pro at US$144 a year. Couples look further when a mood board is not enough to judge how decor will sit in their own venue, or when editing one object at a time feels slow. VenuePreview starts from photos of your empty venue and returns it decorated in a chosen style and colors. Milanote is a calmer board tool, Adobe Firefly offers Generative Fill on a photo, and WeddingDecor.com Studio combines inspiration images and a palette on a venue photo.

We make VenuePreview, one of the alternatives below. We compared Canva and each alternative on what you get, what you send and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 13, 2026.

What is Canva?

Canva is an online design editor. Its mood board templates include wedding designs such as "Wedding Mood Board, Photo Collage", and its Magic Edit tool lets you brush over part of a photo, describe a change and generate it. Plans run from Free to Pro at US$144 a year and Business at US$250 a year per person.

Not a venue visualizer: Canva gives you templates and editing tools, and the design work is yours.

What Canva does well

Wedding templates ready to edit

The mood board category includes wedding photo collage designs, some marked Pro (search indexed text).

One tool for every wedding design

The same account can hold the mood board, invitations, signs and a seating chart; those are the top "canva wedding" searches.

A free plan to start

Canva Free includes 1.6M+ templates, 5GB of storage and up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses.

Where Canva falls short for seeing decor in your venue

A board, not your venue

No first-party Canva page we reviewed describes decorating an uploaded venue photo for a wedding.

Edits go one object at a time

Canva's help page advises adding one object at a time with Magic Edit and warns that some details may not look right.

AI use is capped by plan

Free includes up to 20 AI uses; Pro raises the allowance at US$144 a year.

Why couples look for a Canva alternative

  • A collage of inspiration photos still leaves couples guessing how the look fits their own room.
  • Building a whole tablescape with Magic Edit means many separate edits on one photo.
  • The AI allowance on the Free plan runs out quickly when experimenting.
