# The best wedding floor plan software for laying out your reception

If you are laying out a wedding reception yourself, Tableplan is the best wedding floor plan software on what the vendors publish: a couple can buy it for one wedding at $49 per event, place round, banquet and sweetheart tables, a dance floor and a bar, seat every guest and share a read-only link. Prismm is the pick when your planner or venue already uses it, Social Tables suits venues on Cvent, and RoomSketcher is the easiest way to draw the room itself when the venue cannot send a plan.

_VenuePreview published this list. It makes an AI wedding venue visualizer, which shows a venue decorated rather than a seating plan, and it appears under considered, not ranked._

## What wedding floor plan software is for

A wedding floor plan answers a practical question: where does everything go? Guest tables, the head or sweetheart table, the dance floor, the band or DJ, the bar, the cake and the buffet all compete for the same square footage, and the plan has to work for servers, guests in wheelchairs and the photographer's sight lines as well as for looks.

Good floor plan software ties that drawing to the guest list, so moving a table moves the people seated at it, and lets you share one version with the venue coordinator, caterer and rental company. The tools on this page differ mostly in who they expect to be using them. Tableplan sells directly to couples by the event. Prismm, Social Tables, Aisle Planner and Planning Pod are business platforms where a couple is usually invited in by a planner or venue. RoomSketcher and Floorplanner are home design tools that draw a room well but know nothing about weddings.

A floor plan is not the same thing as seeing the room decorated. It tells you that twelve rounds of ten and a dance floor fit; it does not show whether blush linens and tall arrangements suit the ballroom's carpet. Most couples need both, at different moments in planning.

## How we compared

VenuePreview wrote this page and sells a product that shows a venue decorated rather than a seating plan, so it is listed under considered, not ranked. The ranking is for couples, and the planners helping them, who need to lay out a reception and seat guests.

Each statement about another product comes from that vendor's own pages, read on October 13, 2026. User counts, ratings and similar lines are attributed to the vendor. When a page does not mention a feature we write that it is not stated, not that it is missing. Prices are typed as listed, with a recheck due by November 13, 2026.

- **Wedding fit**: Does it know about sweetheart tables, dance floors and seating by family side, or will I be bending a generic tool?
- **Seating linked to the plan**: When I move a table, do the guests move with it?
- **Who can buy it**: Can a couple sign up and pay alone, or does a planner or venue have to own the account?
- **Cost for one wedding**: What will I pay for a single event, and is there a long commitment?
- **Sharing and output**: Can the venue, caterer and rental company see the same version, and can I print it?

## The ranking

### 1. Tableplan: Best for couples planning one wedding

Tableplan promises a seating chart without the spreadsheet: drag and drop guests, record dietary requirements, lay out the venue and collaborate. Weddings are its main use case, and it sells to couples as well as planners. The 2D floor plan includes round, square, banquet and sweetheart tables, a dance floor, a stage and a bar, and a wedding-specific tag records which side of the family a guest is on. It ranks first because one wedding is one price: $49 per event covers unlimited tables and guests, the floor plan, auto-seat, a share link, printing and export, with a five-day money-back guarantee stated by Tableplan. You can try a demo without an account and pay when you want to save and share.

Offers:
- Single-event pricing with unlimited tables and guests
- Sweetheart, round, square and banquet tables, dance floor, stage and bar
- Guest tags for each side of the family, plus dietary notes
- Outputs including a door list, a kitchen dietary sheet, PDF, Excel and CSV, and a read-only guest link

Limits:
- 2D only; no 3D and no decor shown
- Runs in the browser, with no app
- Tableplan's user numbers are the vendor's own claim

Price: $49 per event; $99 per month for planners; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

### 2. Prismm: Best when your planner or venue uses it

Prismm's wedding page is written for planners: design floor plans, arrange seating, manage guest lists and collaborate with couples and their in-laws, and it confirms you can design a wedding seating chart in the platform. Plans can be 2D, 3D or both, and it sells to wedding venues as well as planners. It ranks second because it is the strongest tool here for a planner and couple working on the same layout, but a couple usually joins as a collaborator rather than buying it, the free plan is capped at 3 events and 2 diagrams per event, and paid plans are monthly.

Offers:
- Wedding seating charts, floor plans and guest lists together
- 2D, 3D or both, with templates
- Built for collaborating with couples and their families
- Free plan for 1 user and 3 events

Limits:
- Sold to planners and venues rather than couples
- 3D rendering is listed only on Enterprise
- The free plan's limits differ between the pricing grid and the FAQ

Price: Free $0; Standard $49/month or $480/year; Pro $150/month or $1,500/year; Premium $320/month; Enterprise custom; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

### 3. Social Tables: Best for venue teams

Social Tables, now Cvent Event Diagramming, gives planners and venues interactive floor plans and visual seating charts with simple meal management. Venue plans include professionally drawn floor plans by square footage, which is useful when the room's drawing is the hard part. It ranks third for weddings because its homepage does not mention weddings or couples, paid plans carry a 12-month commitment, and it shares Prismm's price grid, so a couple gains little by choosing it directly.

Offers:
- Visual seating charts with meal management
- Interactive floor plans and a 3D walkthrough of the space
- Professionally drawn floor plans on venue plans
- Free plan with 3 events

Limits:
- Weddings and couples are not mentioned on the homepage
- All paid plans have a 12-month commitment
- 3D rendering only on Enterprise

Price: Planner plans: Free $0; Standard $49/month; Pro $150/month; Premium $320/month; Enterprise custom; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

### 4. Aisle Planner: Best for planners running full projects

Aisle Planner includes layouts and seating in its project tiers, next to RSVP websites, guest management, timelines, budgets and checklists. One planner on its blog explains her method: get the floor plan of each space from the venue coordinator, make it to scale, add tables, chairs and power sources, and only start the layout once the couple has gone through the guest list. It ranks fourth because it is a planner's business tool, priced per active project, and couples reach it through their planner's client portal.

Offers:
- Layouts and seating within each client project
- Couples can upload guest information
- Guest management, RSVP websites, timelines and budgets alongside the plan
- A free 30-day trial on every plan

Limits:
- Sold to event professionals, not couples
- A credit card is required for the trial
- 3D is not mentioned

Price: Up to 15 Projects $69.99/month; 16 to 25 Projects $109.99/month; 26 to 50 Projects $164.99/month; 51 to 100 Projects $229.99/month; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

### 5. Planning Pod: Best for venues with bookings and contracts

Planning Pod's floor plan module draws to-scale floor plans and seating charts and exports full-color PDF layouts with table breakout pages. You upload a room outline or a CAD file and trace the walls, then add furniture, A/V, lighting, floors and stages, and share a link with clients or invite them to collaborate. It ranks fifth because the plans live inside venue management software built for venues, with no public price table.

Offers:
- To-scale floor plans and seating charts
- Printable PDF layouts with table breakout pages
- A share link for clients, and live editing for staff and vendors

Limits:
- Built for venues; couples appear as the venue's clients
- No public price table
- 3D is not mentioned

Price: No public price table; its FAQ says most single-location venues pay roughly $199 to $319 per month; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

### 6. RoomSketcher: Best for drawing the room from scratch

RoomSketcher is floor plan and 3D home visualization software. You can upload a PDF, image or scan of a plan for AI conversion, draw or trace it, order a redraw, or capture the room with a LiDAR phone. It makes 2D and 3D floor plans and offers live 3D walkthroughs. It ranks sixth because its pages do not mention weddings, events or seating layouts: it is the tool for getting an accurate drawing of an unusual room, which you then lay out elsewhere.

Offers:
- Floor plans from an uploaded plan, drawing, tracing or phone capture
- 2D and 3D floor plans and live 3D walkthroughs
- Free plan with 2 credits and 1 AI floor plan conversion
- Ordered redraws, which RoomSketcher says arrive the next business day

Limits:
- No mention of weddings, events or seating
- 3D snapshots on the free plan are watermarked
- Its pages state two different starting prices for ordered redraws

Price: Free $0; Pro $12/month billed annually ($144/year) or $24/month monthly; Team $35/month billed annually; USD excluding tax; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

### 7. Floorplanner: Best free room drawing

Floorplanner is a browser floor planner and 3D room planner: you draw rooms, move walls and add doors and windows to build a digital twin of the space, with a real-time 3D view and a large furniture library. The free account suits casual use, with up to 5 projects and watermarked SD exports. It ranks last because its homepage does not mention events or weddings, and its subscription prices did not load on the page we read.

Offers:
- Draw rooms, walls, doors and windows in the browser
- Real-time 3D view and renders up to 8K for a credit fee
- Free account for casual use

Limits:
- Events and weddings are not mentioned
- Free exports are SD and watermarked
- Subscription prices were not readable on the pricing page

Price: Free for casual use; one-time credit packs: 5 for $8.15, 10 for $16.30, 30 for $48.90, 100 for $163.00; as of October 2026 (checked 2026-10-13)

## Considered, not ranked

- **VenuePreview is an AI wedding venue visualizer for couples. You upload photos of your empty or undecorated venue, choose a style and colors, and get visualizations of that venue decorated, to compare options before spending on decor. It does not plan seating or where each table goes, so it is not ranked on a floor plan list. Couples often use both: a floor plan to fit the room, and visualizations to choose the look.**: VenuePreview is an AI wedding venue visualizer for couples. ## Best for each need

- **A couple seating one wedding without a subscription**: It is priced per event and built around wedding tables and guest sides.
- **Sharing a layout with a planner who already uses Prismm**: Its wedding tools are made for planners and couples to work on one plan.
- **A venue team that draws many rooms**: Venue plans include professionally drawn floor plans.
- **A planner who wants seating inside the full project**: Layouts sit next to RSVPs, budgets and timelines.
- **An odd-shaped room with no drawing**: It can convert a scan or a phone capture into a floor plan.

## What to check before you choose

- **Ask the venue for its drawing first**: Many venues already have a to-scale plan of each room, and some have it inside Prismm, Social Tables or Planning Pod. Starting from their drawing saves you measuring, and it means your layout matches the one their staff will set.
- **Get the final guest count before you seat anyone**: The Aisle Planner post quoted above waits until the couple has finished the guest list before starting the layout. Seating a draft list means doing the chart twice.
- **Measure what the plan will not show**: Leave room for service paths, a clear route for anyone using a wheelchair, the photographer's position during toasts and the space a band needs to load in. Software places tables; it does not know your venue's fire rules.
- **Price it for one event**: Business platforms bill by the month, and some by the year. If you are a couple planning a single wedding, compare the total for the months you need against a per-event price.
- **Pair the plan with a view of the look**: A seating plan settles how many tables fit. It does not settle whether the linens, centerpieces and lighting suit the room, so plan to look at the decor separately before you place rental and flower orders.

## Questions about wedding floor plan software

### What is the best wedding floor plan software?

For a couple planning their own reception, Tableplan, because it is built around wedding tables and guest seating and is sold per event at $49. If your planner or venue already uses Prismm, working in their plan is usually simpler.

### Is there a free wedding floor plan maker?

Tableplan lets you try a demo without an account and pay when you want to save and share. Prismm and Social Tables list free plans capped at 3 events, and Floorplanner and RoomSketcher have free accounts for drawing a room, with watermarked exports.

### Can I make a wedding seating chart and floor plan in the same tool?

Yes. Tableplan, Prismm, Social Tables, Aisle Planner and Planning Pod all connect seating to the floor plan. RoomSketcher and Floorplanner draw rooms but do not mention event seating.

### Do I need 3D for a wedding floor plan?

Usually not. A to-scale 2D plan answers whether the tables, dance floor and bar fit. Prismm offers 3D, but Prismm and Social Tables list 3D rendering only on Enterprise plans, and Tableplan is 2D only.

### Which tools can a couple buy directly?

Tableplan sells to couples per event. RoomSketcher and Floorplanner sell to anyone who wants to draw a room. Prismm, Social Tables, Aisle Planner and Planning Pod are sold to planners and venues, with couples invited as collaborators or clients.

### How is a floor plan different from seeing the venue decorated?

A floor plan places tables and guests. A decorated view of the room is about the look: linens, flowers, lighting and color. VenuePreview covers the second job: you upload photos of your venue, choose a style and colors, and get visualizations of it decorated to compare options.

### What should I send my venue with the floor plan?

Send the final guest count, the table shapes and sizes you want, where the dance floor, bar and band go, and any rentals you are bringing in. Ask the coordinator to confirm the plan against their fire and access rules.
